About Us

Promoting Rural STEM Enrichment through FIRST®

Mid-Mitten RoboRodeo is a first annual off-season event created by Team 5256, The Atomics, to increase rural community involvement and awareness of the benefits of supporting opportunities provided by FIRST®.  While we are hosting the 2019 event, future events will be hosted by other rural teams in order to pay it forward and help promote FIRST in their communities.

By hosting this event in the heart of the Michigan and keeping registration fees low, we not only intend to offer an event that will offer greater access to teams from surrounding rural communities—as well as those who may be struggling—to participate in their first off-season event, but also to create a fun atmosphere for established teams to strut their stuff and inspire others.

While most off-season events are located on opposite sides of the state, RoboRodeo is centrally located in the quiet farming community of Lake Odessa, Michigan.  This may seem a little off the beaten path until you consider we're only 30 minutes from Lansing and Grand Rapids, and about 45 minutes from Kalamazoo and Battle Creek, making Mid-Mitten RoboRodeo an ideal location for teams to meet in the middle.
